SMU welcomed around 70 students attending to the 4th SMU Summer School & the 2nd Shanghai Summer School late June. The opening ceremony for these two programs was successfully held in the morning of June 29th. Prof. SHI Chaojian, the Dean of International Education College, together with several responsible teachers for this program attends to the opening ceremony.

In the welcome speech, Prof. SHI expressed that although one-month-stay is very short, it is a wonderful opportunity for them to explore Chinese culture, society, and expand their horizon. There is a saying “learn and constantly review what one has learned”, Prof. SHI hoped the students could gain knowledge, friendship from this experience.

Then representatives from Plymouth and Ghana gave us a speech, in which they expressed their expectation for the following one-month arrangements.

This is the 2nd year we held the Shanghai Summer School (African Program), which is sponsored by the Shanghai Education Commission, and also the 4th year we held SMU summer school, cooperating with Plymouth University. Within this one-month-experience, the students will have the opportunity to learn Chinese language and also other lectures on Chinese culture and tradition, Chinese economy, Chinese society and legal system. In addition, field visits to surrounding cities are also arranged.
